Jazz band gets into a rhythm at club gig

THE Savannah Jazz Band continues its popular residency at Golcar on March 6.

Next month’s gig, part of the band’s regular monthly performances at the Royal British Legion Club, will feature the six piece band, lead by John Meehan on drums and featuring Tony Pollitt (bass), Louis Lince (banjo), Brian ‘Sam’ Ellis (trombone), Bill Smith (cornet) and Rod Chambers (clarinet and saxes).

Thursday’s gig will also feature the music of special guest Brian Legan on reeds. It begins at 8.30pm and entry is £4 on the door.

The band has three other dates in its March diary. On March 10, they play Rotherham Transport Club, on the following day they are at Leeds Jazz Club, Upper Wortley Road, and on March 15 they return to Huddersfield for a performance at the Keys restaurant in the town centre.
