Music in museum

POWERFUL music in an unusual setting. That’s what you can expect when the Yorkshire Wind Orchestra plays its first ever concert at the National Mining Museum.

The orchestra, which is made up of woodwind, brass and percussion players from across the Yorkshire region, will play at the museum at Caphouse Colliery on March 8 (7.30pm).

The ensemble, conducted by Keiron Anderson, promotes contemporary composers and encourages the development of young wind and percussion players in the Yorkshire region.

Its programme at the mining museum will feature music by Holst, Grainger, Horovitz and Ellerby
