Theatre hosts music show

THE Holme Valley has more than its share of music and dance talent and both will be on show in Honley on Sunday, March 16, 7.15pm.

Yorkshire Traction Honley Band will be on home ground when it holds the concert at Southgate Theatre in the centre of the village. It’s only minutes walk from Honley’s bandroom where the musicians rehearse every week.

Stuart Derek will conduct the section four band in a programme of music which should offer something for most musical tastes. The band has about 23 musicians and a healthy number of young players.

It is delighted to be joined for this concert by the young performers from the Illingworth School of Dance.

Sally Illingworth, who began the school, was brought up in the Honley area and still runs classes in the Holme Valley.

Her dancers will be showing off a variety of dance styles and with the band should offer a real Yorkshire Mixtures’ style of show.

Tickets £4 from Honley Post Office.
