Classique tale of magical love

TALENTED dancers from Moscow ballet company La Classique will be performing one of the best loved classical ballets, Swan Lake, at Huddersfield Town Hall.

The company was founded in 1990, utilising ballet dancers from the leading theatres in Bolshoi, Kirov, Kiev and Odessa.

It comes to Huddersfield on Wednesday, March 26, with a story that centres around Prince Siegfried who, while out hunting, meets with a flock of swans led by a Queen Swan who is under the evil spell of a magician, Baron Rothbart.

He falls in love with the Queen of the Swans and attempts to free them all. However, the magician has a few tricks up his sleeve to stop him.

This production offers imaginative costumes and beautiful sets which project colour and vitality to enhance the workings of the dancers, choreographers and the composer.

La Classique has thrilled ballet lovers during hugely successful tours of Egypt, Morocco, France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Norway, Israel, Thailand, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia and New

Zealand as well as the UK.

Some of the male dancers in the company have themselves achieved star status in their own country and the incredibly athletic Andrey Lyapin is one such principal dancer who is featured in this production of Swan Lake.

Tickets are £18-£19.50 (plus concessions) and are available from Kirklees Booking Offices, tel: 01484 223200.
