Get ready to Dance Dance Dance to help hospice

SEVEN dance schools have got together to stage a show which will raise money for the children’s respite centre and hospice due to open in Huddersfield.

Around 150 children from the age of 11 upwards will be involved in the production at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on April 4.

But you’ll have to hurry to get hold of a ticket – they’re almost sold out.

Dance Dance Dance is the name of the show and that sums up what the audience will see on the night.

The varied programme includes modern, jazz, visual theatre, tap and classical.

Youngsters will go on stage in aid of the Mayor of Kirklees’s charity appeal, which this year is supporting West Yorkshire’s Forget-Me-Not Trust.

The charity is aiming to raise £3m to open its centre for sick children on a site at Brackenhall.

And there could be more of the same next year.

Barbara Peters, one of the organisers, said: “It’s been good fun bringing the schools together like this.

“Hopefully, we’ll be able to do another next year.”

Schools acting together for the good cause are Adele Taylor, Ann and Carole, Audrey Spencer, Barbara Peters, Katie Philpott and K School of Dance.

The show starts at 7.15pm. Tickets are £8 adult, £6 children, but it’s almost fully booked.
