New spot for jazz

A NEW jazz venue swings into action on Sunday at the Butchers Arms in Hepworth.

The Pennine Jazz Quartet are first up for what is hoped will become a regular night of music at the village pub.

Keith Shone, who founded the band in 2000, couldn’t be happier.

“It’s not easy to find venues that are prepared to fund live jazz events. Support for this new venture by musicians and music lovers would be much appreciated,” he says.

The pub will serve bar snacks or a full menu from 5pm and the music starts at 7.30pm.

Pennine Jazz Quartet features Adrian Ingram on guitar, Andy Wallis on tenor sax, Winston Shone on bass and Bob Warnock on drums.

They play swing and Latin jazz standard, together with soulful blues and reckon their style will go down well in the cosy Pennine pub.
