Judge if Stewart should be 41st

A RECENT Channel 4 survey of the 100 greatest stand-up comedians had Stewart Lee (pictured) at 41.

You can judge for yourself where he ranks when he appears at the Lawrence Batley Theatre on Thursday.

This is a new stand-up show from the co-writer of Jerry Springer The Opera, who says he was very surprised at his placing in the TV poll.

“Most comedians were annoyed by the list, but I chose to embrace it as a marketing tool,” says Lee.

Mind you, it didn’t impress his mum.

“She’s still as ashamed as she ever was of me being a comic, even though I am now officially the 41st best stand-up ever.

“Her favourite comic is Tom O’Connor,” he says.
