Band is ‘brilliant’

MNOZIL BRASS, an international quintet of outstanding musicianship and humour, is to play a concert in Uppermill Civic Hall on Friday of next week, May 2, at 7.30.

The man who has made the trip possible is Brian Taylor, of Diggle, who played soprano cornet with Slaithwaite Band for about 20 years.

The members of this extremely versatile group are all former graduates of the Vienna School of Music. In addition to playing at least one brass instrument wonderfully well, the group can also sing with excellent intonation either as soloists or in a group.

When Brian Taylor was attended the final of the National Brass Band Championships in the Royal Albert Hall four years ago, Mnozil Brass appeared as a speciality act, and he was so taken aback by the professionalism of the quintet that he gate-crashed his way backstage in order to meet the group. From that point on Brian became their No 1 fan: in fact he is now regarded as the group’s English manager.

Said Brian Taylor: “If you want to know what to expect, expect the unexpected. What is guaranteed is a superlative blend of brilliant musicianship and humour.”
