A classical guitar virtuoso

IF classical guitar is your style then head for the Square Chapel in Halifax and a performance by El Moreno (pictured).

This popular musician returns to the area with a concert on May 30 which will demonstrate his flair for music that mixes the romantic classics with flamenco and the sounds of Latin-America.

In his early career, El Moreno took part in master classes with John Williams and later studied in New York with Argentinian guitarist Jorge Morel.

In Halifax, his performance is expected to include pieces such as Giuliani's variations on The Harmonious Blacksmith and many more.

His guest for the concert will be the soprano Carol Oliver, a member of the Australian Opera Company who has sung at the Sydney Opera House.

Her performances alongside El Moreno will include songs from Spain and South America as well as lighter, Broadway music.
