Hollywood calling

IT IS the stuff of dreams – or in this case, nightmares.

For when film director Frank Capra phones small town repertory actors George and Charlotte Hay, saying that he’s coming to see one of their shows, lives begin to unravel.

It’s all part of the fun in Ken Ludwig’s backstage comedy, Moon Over Buffalo. It is a play scarcely seen in this area but Halifax Thespians field a strong cast in a new production which opens tomorrow.

Derek Smith directs and actors include Ian Stead, who lives in Elland, Brenda Chapel who is from Brighouse and Rachel Ingham, who lives in Mirfield and works in Huddersfield.

Serious fun to be had at the Playhouse all next week. Performances begin tomorrow (7.30pm) and run evenings all next week from Monday.
