The best of the young

THEY are the best young musicians in the area and on Sunday they will be showing just why.

A concert at Holmfirth Parish Church at 8pm will feature six of the previous winners of the Millennium Trophy.

This is sponsored by Holmfirth Rotary Club and awarded annually at Holmfirth Musical festival to the most promising musician living in Holmfirth and Meltham, aged between 14 and 25.

Sarah Ogden, Rebecca Parr, Tom Law, Rebecca Robertson, Stephanie Helliwell and Marie Johnson are all expected to be involved in this prizewinners’ recital.

Just one, percussionist Mark Wagstaff, will be missing. He has a previous professional engagement and will be unable to play.

Tickets are £5 (£4 concessions) from Holmfirth Tourist Information (01484 222444), Kathryn Kingdom (01484 683157) or Christopher England (01484 661329).

People can also pay on the door.
