Brass: Huddersfield and Ripponden Brass join their youth and junior bands for summer concert at St John's, Golcar

HUDDERSFIELD and Ripponden Brass will join with their youth and junior bands tonight present a summer concert in St John's Church, Golcar.

The concert will be the band’s first major concert under the baton of principal musical director, Mr Tony Jaeger-Fozard, who was appointed recently due to the illness of Mr Steve Platten, musical director for almost four years.

Band secretary, Alan Jazwinski, said: "We all hope Steve recovers well enough to attend band rehearsals again soon and then we will be fortunate to have two fine musical directors."

The three bands operate within the Huddersfield Youth Brass Ensemble Association, a registered charity formed in 1990 and based at Golcar Conservative Club.

The Association encourages young people to learn to play brass instruments so it has no subscription and provides free instruments and subsidised lessons.

Anyone who would like to learn to play, join one of the bands or book one of the bands for a concert should ring Alan on 07931 755435 or visit the bands website, www.huddersfieldbrass.co.uk

Tonight’s concert starts at 7.30pm and you can pay on the door. Children under 16 years, if accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free of charge.
