Music: Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band’s Christmas concert with Elland Silver Youth Band

TWO brass band champions are reunited for a Christmas concert.

National Champions, Brighouse and Rastrick put on their eagerly awaited Christmas concerts in their own town.

And they’re joined by the highly acclaimed Elland Silver Youth Band.

The show is at the Central Methodist Church in Brighouse on Saturday, December 11, at 3pm.

Conductor Samantha Harrison has provided inspirational leadership to Elland’s young members and so far this year they have had resounding victories at national level in the Action Research Youth Band Entertainment Championship and the National Youth, Intermediate, Brass Band Championship.

Three other wins have been achieved in more local events and Samantha says that the band is delighted to be invited to be playing alongside the National Champions of Great Britain.

The host band is using guest conductor, Garry Cutt, while newly appointed Resident Musical Director, Sandy Smith, completes his prior commitments.

Garry is well known to the band and is currently busy putting his finishing touches to what will be a very appealing programmes for both performances.

Some entertaining fresh arrangements will be heard as well as seasonal favourites and spots from their array of hugely talented soloists.

Brighouse and Rastrick will proudly show off the stunning silver trophy they carried triumphantly off the stage of the Royal Albert Hall last month to become National Champions for the first time in the new millennium.

Tickets are now on sale at Fawcett’s Stationers, Commercial Street, Brighouse or from concert secretary, David Howe on 01484 718835.
