Photography: The glory of the Pennines through the lens

AS the spring sun shines the uplands of the South Pennines come into their own magnificent glory.

And people are being invited to share images of their favourite places in a four season photography competition.

The Watershed Landscape project, funded through the rural regeneration partnership Pennine Prospects, will be hosting a year long photography competition, called Inspired by Landscape.

It’s designed to capture the best images from all four seasons on the South Pennines uplands.

Project officer Anna Marshall explained: “The Watershed Landscape project is all about helping understand, care for, enjoy and make use of the unique and inspiring South Pennines upland landscape.”

Images taken from Ilkley to Haworth, Hebden Bridge to Marsden Moors can be submitted.

There are categories for under 18s, over 18s and camera club members. The prize include the chance to have the photographs professionally mounted and curated in 2012.

Closing dates for each section are: spring entries, May 31, 2011; summer entries, August 31, 2011; autumn entries, November 30, 2011; and winter entries, February 28, 2012.
