Concert: Colne Valley Male Voice choir sings in Brockholes

THE singers of Colne Valley Male Voice Choir swap valleys later this month for a concert in the Holme Valley.

The choir will sing at St George’s Church in Brockholes which is home ground for one of its members, Noel Clarke.

The concert on Sunday, September 25 (7pm) is part of a series of events being held to fund celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the church which is in 2013.

The choir will be conducted by its music director, Thom Meredith who is also principal of Kirklees Music School.

Keith Swallow, who lives just along the road from the church in New Mill, is the choir’s accompanist and will play for the concert. The solo trumpet player will be Julian Wightman.

The programme is likely to be a mix of church pieces, spirituals plus less formal items.

The emphasis will be on celebration as this concert aims to help fund many more similar events.

Tickets are £8 from 01484 663695.
