SHE is one of the country’s best loved and most respected sopranos and next spring, Lynne Dawson will sing at a big charity concert in Huddersfield.
Lynne will headline a concert at Huddersfield Town Hall on May 18 to help raise funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research.
There will be a lot of female vocal power on stage that night.
For alongside Lynne, there will be many ladies’ choirs from the area plus Sarah Ogden, a young soprano from Huddersfield who is already making quite a name in music circles.
The choirs include Almondbury Ladies, Denby Dale Ladies, Honley Ladies, Marsh Ladies, the Moorland Singers, the Pennine Singers, Penistone Ladies and Vocal Expression.
Hade Edge Band will also be on stage and the choirs will be conducted by Thom Meredith, principal of Kirklees Music School who is also musical director of Colne Valley Male Voice Choir. Keith Swallow is the accompanist.
Norman Mellor, a well-known singer and tireless charity fund-raiser, is the man responsible for getting all the choirs together. He has been working closely with the team for Yorkshire Cancer Research and is thrilled that Lynne has agreed to star in the concert.
