THE dramatic story of Jane Eyre is retold in performances in the Colne Valley tonight and tomorrow.

Post-graduate acting students from the Academy of Live and Recording Arts have been working on Willis Hall’s stage adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s classic novel.

The students visited the Bronte Music in Haworth earlier in the summer to soak up the atmosphere.

This short tour of community venues began at Shaw Playhouse earlier in the week and has also played Oldham Central Library and an Over 60s club in Chadderton.

It is all part of the work in the community that Oldham Coliseum has undertaken while the theatre has been closed for renovations.

The refurbishment has taken around nine months and the theatre will reopen in October. Before then its supporters can continue to see stylish theatre out in the community.

Jane Eyre will plays at Slaithwaite Civic Hall tonight (September 7) at 7.30pm.

The show then moves up the valley to Marsden where it plays two performances at the Mechanics tomorrow. There’s a matinee at 2.30pm followed by an evening show at 7.30pm.
