Litfest 2010 blog: Day One - Form, fiction and burlesque
By Emily Kennedy
With months of hard work and planning the Huddersfield Litertaure Festival has arrived!
The first day of the Festival started out with the Festival Director’s Form and Fiction Master class which was a sell out. After a quick set-up and brief of the day the Festival opened and litertaure lovers flocked in for Mike's masterclass.
The room was buzzing, and post-event feedback included comments such as "want more", "interesting, informative and inspiring".
Already, all the work that has been put into the Festival was proving it was worth while.
As the masterclass came to an end the Festival team headed up to the Peacock Lounge to prepare for the official Huddersfield Literature Festival Launch.
Ruby Honey Cut Corset led the audience through a dramatic and humoured performance. This led in to a night of cabaret with a change to one of the acts that had been originally lined up. Again, a tantilising performance leaving the audience wanting more. What a great way to start the Festival!
It was excellent to be managing the opening day of the Festival and really was a night to be remembered.
With a week packed of events, The 2010 Huddersfield Literature Festival will be one to be remembered!
