Bands to earn their Stripes in competition

FOUR Huddersfield bands are to battle it out in the town’s heat of the UK-wide Red Stripe Music Award talent contest.

The heat will take place at The Chapel – the gig venue of The Parish on Kirkgate – on Friday, February 22.

Giving their all on stage will be ska punk band Mr Shiraz, metallers Divide and indie groups Far From The Dance and The Plastic Circus.

The lucky winner will go through to represent Huddersfield at the regional heat of the awards.

Bands are competing at 50 different venues across the country to try to win a place in the national round.

The overall winners of the finals in May will get to perform at two major festivals this summer, complete with their own tour bus.
