Bands battle for Huddstock

BANDS are to battle it out for a plance in the line-up at this year's Huddstock Festival.

A battle of the bands is to be held at Huddersfield University students union on Queensgate on Saturday (March 8).

Entrants for the event have been pre-selected by the student union and their performances will be judged by a university representative, the crowd reaction and an organiser of the festival, which will take place on Castle Hill on June 2.

The music festival was held for the first time last year to raise money for Huddersfield cancer charity, The Laura Crane Trust. This year it will once again be raising cash for the charity, which pays for research into cancers affecting 13 to 25 year olds and helps sufferers.

Hannah Scott, a member of the Huddstock Team, said: "We are hoping the bands will get lots of support on the evening and encourage students to come along to have some fun."

The battle runs from 8pm to 11pm and entry costs just 50p.

More details on the festival will soon be available at www.huddstock.co.uk.
