Film review: No country for old men

In a nutshell: Violence and mayhem ensue after a hunter stumbles upon some dead bodies, a stash of heroin and more than $2 million in cash near the Rio Grande.

Tom says....

A BREATHTAKING experience in every sense; the acting, the screenplay and even a touch of decidedly dark humour from the film’s lead, a cold-blooded killer with the worst haircut in the world.

Following a drug deal gone wrong, a young cowboy comes across two million dollars and decides to run for it, figuring he has nothing to lose.

A tale of cat and mouse ensues between the cowboy and his assassin with the elderly local sheriff (Tommy Lee Jones, pictured)) left to pick up the pieces and to discover that modern America certainly is no country for old men.

Rebecca says...

THE powerful performances and tense plot meant at times I couldn’t move while watching this film.

It follows a young welder who finds a case full of money after a drugs deal goes wrong and the psychopathic killer who comes after him to reclaim the bag, getting rid of anyone who gets in his way.

The film is gory and violent and although this killer is obviously completely mad, a certain respect builds up for him as the film reaches its close.

The scene where he tends to a bullet wound is particularly absorbing. Interesting and unusual this film totally deserved its 8 Oscar nominations.
