Film Review: Semi-Pro

Mark says

Semi-Pro was a disappointing film. I’m not a big Will Ferrell fan, but I have found some of his other films funny so I was prepared to give it a go.

Unfortunately, this film falls far short of the mark.

Too few funny moments with lots of 70s references that younger viewers may not relate to. All in all disappointing.

Rating: 2 out of 5

Tanya says...

I am a Will Ferrell fan and loved him in Blades of Glory and Starsky and Hutch. But even I’ve got to admit that Semi-Pro is not his best film. It takes too long for the classic story of the underdog sports team taking on the big guns to get going. It’s a bit like Dodgeball but not nearly as funny. Once the basketball team, The Tropics, get going and head towards victory, things pick up a bit and Will’s over-the-top acting carries it some way, but not enough laughs for me.

Rating: 2.5/5.
