AFTERPARTY bosses have announced this weekend’s warehouse party will be their final event at Bates Mill.
After five years of bringing some of the world’s greatest DJs and musicians to Huddersfield, organisers Doorly and Bongo Dave have called time on the popular event.
The news comes as they prepare to welcome Professor Green, Reverend and the Makers and DJ Yoda to town on Sunday.
Doorly said his busy international schedule and Bongo Dave’s impending fatherhood were the prime reason for axing the popular event.
He said: “In order to pull together the ridiculously amazing line ups we have always run these events on a break even basis.
“We’ve put in an unreal amount of effort to make them an amazing experience but right now for our own separate reasons we have decided to take a break from putting on events of this scale as it takes up so much of our time that we just don’t have these days.
“We wanted to go out with a bang and we both feel that this event will be it.
“It’s a great time to do it, just before we were set to break for the summer anyway, as my usual Ibiza season of chaos is about to begin.
“This way it gets everyone together to say a huge goodbye to an amazing home for Afterparty and have one big party together!
“This isn’t a sad occasion, more of a celebration and we’re still looking forward to a nearly sold out event on Sunday together.
“We never say never about maybe doing some other one-off stuff, it’s just that right now we are just too busy to do these huge three month projects and do them justice.
“We will be looking at a few small options for parties after the summer, mainly as an excuse for me to come back to Huddersfield and see all my mates!”
“As always, thanks for everyone for your support down the years.
“We have some amazing memories of the fun we’ve had in there and both myself and Bongo Dave would not be where we are in our careers and life today without those parties being able to take place.
“We’ve enjoyed five years of some of the best gigs of our lives down there, from the opening party with Groove Armada and Annie Mac right through to the last one with Example, Zane Lowe and Magnetic Man and Fatboy Slim, Armand Van Helden, Sebastian Ingrosso, Chase & Status and loads more in-between.
“Let’s have a good old knees up and see the place off in style!”
A limited amount of tickets are available from the Camel Club and Revolution.
