SINGER-SONGWRITING sisters Olivia and Lila Hutchinson – aka Ello – are to hit the airwaves this week.

The Fixby girls, 19 and 17, will be playing three songs live on BBC Radio Leeds Introducing at about 8pm on Thursday.

Their debut album, Childlike Innocence, was self-released last month and within days of first single BAYB being added to BBC Uploader they were offered a live radio spot.

“I absolutely loved the track,” says Darren Williams, producer on BBC Introducing Radio Leeds.

“It was a completely refreshing and original tune – it really stood out and I couldn’t believe how young the girls are when I listened to it. They are incredibly talented.”

Lila said: “We’ve been performing solo for years and we weren’t sure collaborating would work as our styles are very different; I’m more indie, EMO and Olivia is a jazz singer.”

“It’s always interesting,” said Olivia of their songwriting sessions.

“We have lots of arguments because neither of us are afraid to say; ‘that’s rubbish, let’s start again’.”

Ello are planning a tour for February 2013 which kicks off with a gig at Manchester’s legendary Band on the Wall on February 3 and includes The Acoustic Revolutionaries in Huddersfield on February 20, with more dates in the pipeline.

Noah Burton of Extra Curricular, who promotes Acoustic Revolutionaries, said: “Ello’s concise songwriting style is unique and well developed.

“Their use of catchy melodies sung in tight, interweaving harmony between the two sisters is a joy to behold.

“I see a really bright future for these two talented young ladies.”
