THE Pronuptia and Boots Bride of the Year for Huddersfield is Hannah Croughan of Golcar.
The single mum, who is a physical development officer for the under fives, is engaged to Andy Sill, a team leader at Huddersfield Railway Station.
Hannah and Andy (both 32) were at Moor End High School together 17 years ago but didn’t start seeing each other until two years ago, when they met up on a night out in town.
“I always liked Andy at school,’’ said Hannah, “but he never knew and we didn’t keep in touch. “He proposed to me on Valentine’s Day this year. My daughter cannot wait to be a bridesmaid and I can’t wait for him to be my husband.’’
Unusually, Andy will be taking Hannah’s surname, which her daughter Lily (2 years 8 months) also has.
“This is so we can all have the same name,’’ said Hannah, who has raised her daughter alone since she was born.
The couple are planning to get married in Langdale Chase in the English Lake District on March 21 next year, the first day of spring.
Hannah’s prize includes a dress up to the value of £1,000 from Pronuptia in King Street, a tooth whitening treatment at The Courtyard Dental Practice, a bridal hairstyle from Rubens, Westgate, make-up by Max Factor and a hamper of cosmetics from Boots.
We’ll be featuring her bridal make-over on this page.
