Daniel’s top beauty tips

Resist the temptation to buy foundation that is the shade you would like to be rather than the skin tone you actually are.

Blending is the key to a flawless, natural complexion. Apply thin layers and blend down onto the neckline. “Using the wrong colour looks really, really fake,’’ says Daniel.

“But I can see why women do it, why they end up with orange faces because having a tan means you can wear bright colours. But make-up shouldn’t be a mask.’’

Develop your own make-up style, don’t copy the make-up seen on perma-tanned celebrities. “Girls want to look like Girls Aloud or Cheryl Cole,’’ he says.

“But what I always say is that there’s nothing wrong with being fair-skinned and pale. Look at Nicole Kidman, Gywneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep – they look pale and beautiful with it.’’

This summer the emphasis is less on being tanned and more on the use of highlighters to create a natural glow.

“Make-up shouldn’t sit on your face, it should softly accentuate your features,’’ said Daniel.
