To celebrate the opening of a new hair salon at the Titanic Spa in Linthwaite we asked for nominations for a day of pampering and a make-over. Our deserving winner was Linda Chadwick, who looked, and felt, like a new woman after taking up her prize. Hilarie Stelfox reports
THE past few months have been difficult for medical secretary Linda Chadwick.
In January she lost her husband of 38 years, Terry, after nursing him through a chronic illness.
The couple were married in 1971 and had two sons and five grandchildren, all living in Golcar.
When Linda’s colleague, Andrea Laycock, saw our offer of a day at the Titanic Spa, followed by a hair and beauty make-over at the new Three Degrees hair salon in the spa, she wrote: “I cannot think of anyone more deserving of a bit of pampering than Linda. She is a lovely person and has always remained positive and managed to carry on working part time as a medical secretary at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary whilst caring for Terry at home.’’
Linda herself says she was surprised to be chosen. “But it was a lovely surprise. I’ve had a wonderful time,’’ she said afterwards “I’ve never been to a spa before but it’s something that I’ve always said I would try; one of those things that you think you would love.’’
Her prize package included full use of the spa facilities, including swimming pool, heat experience rooms and lunch in the restaurant, followed by a relaxing Decléor Aromaplastie facial with back and shoulder massage.
