Fashion and Beauty: There’s no such thing as difficult hair

MY COLLEAGUE Nick Lavigueur has what he calls “the most difficult hair in the world.”

He says this with a straight face, because he really means it.

“It won’t do anything you want it to and even if it does then it only lasts 10 minutes,” he explained.

The 33-year-old reporter’s naturally thick and wavy hair has only been kept under control by a continuous programme of strict and regular pruning.

But for the last year he’s been letting it have its own way – and complaining about it a lot.

“Until 11 months ago I always had my hair short,” he said. “But it wasn’t very rock and roll and that’s what I want. So I decided to grow it and now I don’t know what to do with it any more.”

Clearly it was time for help from the Queen of Makeovers.

So I booked him an appointment with hairstylist Joe Mazza from Rubens, one of Huddersfield’s most experienced cutters, who began his long career in men’s hairdressing.

Nothing fazes Joe.

“Bring it on,” he said when I told him about Nick’s ‘difficult’ hair. “I’ll enjoy the challenge.”

In fact, Joe says there’s no such thing as difficult hair.
