NICOLA BEAR, the Huddersfield-born DJ, is enjoying some real summer sunshine in one of Europe’s clubbing capitals – Ibiza.
In fact, the 25-year-old will be island hopping until October between Ibiza and Majorca, working the Balearics club scene at the famous Ibiza Rocks and Mallorca Rocks hotels, where she is the resident DJ.
As well as playing the night scene she’s been doubling up as a fashion model.
She is appearing between the covers of September’s Company magazine in an issue dedicated to Ibiza and Ibiza style.
A full-time DJ, Nicola got her first break while working at Huddersfield’s Revolution bar and has appeared at a number of local venues – from the Cotton Factory to the Bates Mill Afterparties.
Originally from Cowlersley, where her parents Michael and Christine Crossley live, she has been in the Spanish islands since May this year.
When she returns she’s hoping to embark on a tour of North America.
Nicola enjoys casual fashions for every day wear and says: “I wear something plain, like a grey marl tee, then jazz it up with cool accessories, like a tasselled bag or statement necklace.
“There’s a cool vintage shop here called Holala!, so I go there for one-offs that no one else will have and mix them with British high-street buys. I recently bought a Hawaiian shirt and I've got my eye on some dungarees there, too.”
When working she has a different style: “It has to be comfortable, especially when I DJ, so I wear a lot of oversized stuff. My general style is pretty boyish – anything glam can be dressed down with a pair of biker boots! I pretty much Instagram-stalk Alexa Chung for style inspiration! This is the year of the high-waisted disco shorts, and I team mine with creepers and Lennon sunglasses.”
