THE Spice of Bengal is one of the best curry houses in the area but the question is, does it cut it as a takeaway? Definitely.
I ordered a mixed kebab starter and prawn madras main. The starter came with freshly bagged salad and a small tub of sauce. It was still hot and it was the usual excellent standard.
The madras was also perfect with a generous portion of egg rice and a garlic naan. It was also incredibly well presented for a takeaway, even the rice comes complete with herbs and spices that many others don’t seem to bother with.
The highlight of the other dishes was the Jalfrazi which came complete with a chilli on top for the brave (or stupid) to eat whole. Again, the curry was superb and the serving generous.
Despite being excellent quality, however, I have a few questions. Why not simply go to the restaurant? It costs a couple of pound more, you don’t have to do any washing up, and there isn’t all the waste packaging.
If you do want to stay in though, you couldn’t make a better choice. The food is good value, the portions are large, the quality is superb, and it all comes piping hot. A definite favourite.
Five star stuff!
