Recipes from Rustie

LARGER-than-life Jamaican chef Rustie Lee (pictured) takes readers on a culinary journey throughout the Caribbean in her latest cookbook.

From mangoes to mace and gungo peas to plantain this colourful compendium offers quick and recipes for novices or more experienced cooks.

Easy to follow instructions, including sections on traditional utensils, herbs and spices and Caribbean fruits and vegetables, are all included alongside photos of foods which you can almost smell on the page.

Recipes include dips and sauces, soups, snacks, salads and vegetarian dishes, fish, poultry, meat, cakes, desserts, drinks and cocktails.

“I hope this will encourage you to try new delights and not be scared to add something different to your shopping list,” says the celebrity chef, who lives in Birmingham.

“All that leaves me now to say is ‘Good Nammings’, which means ‘good eating and enjoy.’ ”
