Graham Porter: Things to remember in the garden
Garden of the Year – with only two weeks to go before the closing date for this year’s competition, sponsored by Armitage’s. Remember, you have to be in it to win it!
Slugs and snails – if you have pets and are using Metaldehyde-based slug pellets please read the instructions very carefully before you apply them.
Hair cut – give Alyssum, Aubretia and Iberis their annual trim to encourage new growth for next spring’s flowers.
Beetles and Weevils – look out for the Scarlet Lily Beetle, the tiny black and white Figwort Weevil and the Asparagus Beetle now and hand-pick them.
