“WE hate it when our friends become successful and, if they’re northern, that makes it even worse.”
So Morrissey sang anyway. But his northern fans clearly don’t mind the success of Manchester’s maudlin son.
Demand for tickets for his latest tour is such that he’s added extra dates in October, including gigs in Sheffield and Leeds.
He will perform at Leeds O2 Academy on October 29 and Sheffield City Hall the next day.
Morrissey has already played two gigs in his home city and one in Hull last week as part of his Tour of Refusal, in support of his latest album release, Years Of Refusal, which came out on Polydor in February.
Morrissey describes it as his ‘strongest work to date.’
He has spent two years writing and recording the album.
Tickets for the new dates cost £32.50 and are limited to six per person at Sheffield. Contact the Sheffield City Hall box office on 01142 789 789 or the O2 ticketline on 0844 477 2000.
