MOBY: Wait For Me.Moby is the master of the synth atmospherics and he does it here again. Soothing, calming, full of promise of amazing things to come, but they don’t always materialise. The string-blessed, softly chugging single, Pale Horses, is a taste of what lies in wait here. Moby’s music is out to make you lose your head and take leave of your senses – in short, to remove you to a far-off musical place that sometimes soothing, sometimes faintly foreboding. Gospel looms large in a gentle, rootsy and vulnerable way. Profile: Page 6
CICADA: Roulette.Prepare to dance and, at times, get blown away. it veers from the pumping electronica of Falling Rockets and euphoric electro-pop of recent single Metropolis to the darkest recesses of electronic indie on Executive with Tom Smith fromThe Editors on vocals. Along the way you’ll catch glimpses of influences as diverse as Talking Heads and New Order. They save the best for last with Tiad, a synth equivalent of Pink Floyd’s Great Gig In The Sky.
TINY MASTERS OF TODAY: Skeletons. The Brooklyn band’s scratchy bare guitar sound quickly starts to gnaw at the nerves but, even worse, then begins to bore. They began on MySpace, but now they're invading my space.
