I still pick up a penny for luck!

MARK FROST, 39, was born in Birmingham.

He's best known to soap fans as Dr Steve Rawlings in the BBC1 daytime series Doctors. But his CV also includes roles in The Bill, Silent Witness, Down to Earth, Holby City and Echo Beach.

He can next be seen playing Cromwell in A Man For All Seasons at York Theatre Royal, until June 28.

Mark is single and lives in London.

If you had to be stuck in a lift with someone who would it be? An extremely beautiful lift engineer, maybe...?

What is your biggest fear? I guess my biggest fear is that greed, hate and fear will drive us to the brink as a species..

Do you have any superstitions? Well, I still pick up a penny when I find one, hoping it's a lucky one. But maybe I'm just tight!

If you could only have one song on your iPod what would it be? What, just one from all the musical genres? All those great bands? I'd struggle to pick just one from the Stone Roses. But if it's only one piece of music then I guess it's Glenn Gould playing Bach's Goldberg Variations.

Q: What's the most expensive item you've ever bought, not including property or cars? A chair. A very beautiful and sexy chair, but a chair all the same...

What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?: Treat others as you wish to be treated. It's dead simple and easy to forget.

When was the last time you cried and why? My mum died last year so there have been countless tears. But to be honest I have never been afraid of a weep, so it can be a frequent occurrence these days.

What's your indulgence? I think life is for living and in the process be good to yourself. If I like something I tend to repeat it.

How environmentally friendly are you? Well, I talk a good game and I cycle a lot...

Who is the most famous person whose number you have in your mobile? Those blokes from the 118 118 adverts!

How many texts do you send in a day? A lot at the moment, because having watched too much Grand Designs I am currently trying to organise my own home in London while working in York. It looks easier on the telly.

What item could you not live without? Well, I'd like to think that other than the bare essentials the rest is just luxury, but I haven't had to put it to the test so far.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I'd either like more hair or the maturity to stop worrying about its recession.

Where are you going on holiday? I take holidays when I get the chance so I rarely plan them, but I want to get to India soon if possible.

What were you doing this time yesterday? Well, it sounds a bit flash, but I had just arrived in Milan to shoot an Italian commercial.

What will you be doing this time tomorrow?: I will be watching football with some of the York-based cast of A Man For All Seasons. Or learning lines.
