Bands set for battle!

TWO hundreds acts entered ... now just 30 bands are left to battle it out for a place at Leeds Festival through the Futuresound competition.

The winner of the 2008 contest will get a slot to play on the Festival Republic stage at Leeds Festival at Bramham Park on August Bank Holiday weekend. The four runners-up will perform on the brand new BBC Introducing stage, which is a special addition this year.

Now judges face the tough task of selecting a winner from the 30 bands. A series of live gigs have been organisers. Three bands will play at each gig and a panel will vote for their favourite. At the end of 10 heats, results will be counted and winners will be announced at a special event at The Cockpit in Leeds.

The gigs will be held at The Cockpit on June 25, 27, July 2, 8, 12, 16, 18, 19 ,23 and 30.
