Never has the need for vision been more necessary for town’s future

AT the public debate hosted by the Civic Society, at which many people representing varied interests shared their ides and concerns for the future of Huddersfield, one of the unanimous messages was the need for an overall strategy.

There are many conflicting schemes proposed for the future. We have waited for years for one to turn up and then, to coincide with the recession, six turn up at once. Never has the need for vision been more necessary.

Clr Sims (Examiner July 2) inadvertently demonstrates why people fear rather than welcome the different developments, done without real consultation. No mention of the Kingsgate proposals as well as other assertions suggests it is Mr Sims who is the one demonstrating sectional interests and short term political opportunism.
