Jul 4 2008 by Val Javin, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
MAY I take this opportunity to thank the Examiner for taking up the story of how our children, pupils of Royds Hall School were left in the lurch without a limo, just prior to their prom.
At the last minute the firm who took our money well in advance let us down and told us a Hummer would not be available.
Following your story, the Co-operative Funeralcare team came to our aid and offered two beautiful black limos for use on the night. They provided two very nice drivers who took the pupils for a drive around Huddersfield and delivered them in style to the prom.
They asked for no money for this service being only too happy to provide the cars and we were immensely grateful to them.
So thank you Huddersfield Examiner and especially Co-op Funeralcare.

Party marks end of maternity unit
THE closure to the Maternity Unit at HRI will soon be upon us and the staff who currently work there are planning a party on August 23 to mark the occasion.
We would like to offer an invitation to anyone who has worked within the unit, has retired or moved on and to anyone who did midwifery training there.
The party will start at 7.30pm allowing people the opportunity to catch up with old friends before the music begins at about 9-9.30pm.
If you would like to join us please contact me on 01484 542506 or email judithhavis@msn.com for further details.

A bit of bad arithmetic
IN my letter regarding buses in Friday night’s Examiner the amount given by Kirklees Council should have read quarter of a million not four million.
