Town bypass?

IS Huddersfield in danger of losing its town centre?

Compare two of the numerous developments in Huddersfield going through the planning process and which will have the greatest impact on the town centre.

1). Queensgate revival main features-hotel, apartments, car park (1000 spaces) and new library. 2). Galpharm tourist village main features-hotel, apartments, car park (1754 spaces) and new leisure/sports complex. Also in close proximity to the Galpharm stadium on Leeds Road are the Leeds Road and Great Northern Street Retail Parks with free parking, construction at J Robinson Hillhouse Lane site, in the planning process Tesco Superstore Southgate. The Gaswork Street site?

With all this competition down the Leeds Road corridor shoppers/tourists/sports fans will have no need to venture into Huddersfield town centre for their shopping and could bypass it completely. Final thought, what impact will the tourist village have on the town avenue estate/residents?
