ARE our councillors all members of Unison and supporters of the local strikes which I am pretty sure are totally against public opinion?
I say this as far as the refuse collectors are concerned, because how can a section of the council tax payers who missed collections on two days this week be made to wait another two weeks for rubbish collection on, as they state , ‘The next due date’.
The next due date should obviously be Friday for those missed on Wednesday and the following Monday for those missed on Friday. Thereby diluting the impact of these idiots who think they can hold us all to ransom.
Or, is it a problem and too much trouble to re-arrange all the scheduling for the various areas. If it is, come down to my company and we will show you how to compute a programme to do this quickly.
By the way, are these ‘bin men’ the guys who are paid in excess of £8 per hour who the careworkers last year wanted parity with.
So come on councillors do the job you are elected to do or resign and let someone else step in and do it for you. If you have a continuing problem with the binmen, do the obvious thing, put the contract out to tender. I am certain that you will excite a number of contractors who will pay considerably less wages than you are doing now and give a guaranteed first class service to your council tax payers and make a healthy profit from the venture.
As for the rest of our local Government workers – get real! Your country is sinking into a serious recession or even Depression. Now is not the time to be holding your fellow countrymen to ransom to bail you out because you are feeling the pinch.
You will not gain respect or support from your neighbours in this town who you are depriving of a service and adding to an already overlarge council tax bill.
