So just when will the world come down to earth?

‘The way money is raised and spent by the Government, including the utilities, is in need of a complete overhaul’

We need a revolution ... but where are the leaders? ARTHUR MARSON, 84, poses the question. Since 1960 he had been involved in running the family-run Mountjoy House School, in Edgerton, which closed down last year. He is the proud owner of a Veterans’ Badge, having served with the RAF as an air navigator from 1942 to 1946, finishing his service as a warrant officer.

MINE is a voice crying in a wilderness occupied only by other letter writers to the media, it seems.

Most of us appear looking for leadership from whatever source, to help put the world to rights.

A lot of us are tending towards the elderly – golden oldies, silver citizens, call us what you will, but we have been there, done that and have sufficient memory to remember what happened the last time a so-called good idea was tried.

We need the backing and PR facilities of a wealthy organisation to publicise our collective aspirations and grievances and set up a scheme to begin the countdown to lift-off.

The main drawback for most of the people who could help is the fact that they are on the gravy train and are fearful of being offloaded. Their fears are unfounded, as the wheels of progress grind exceeding slowly and real change is measured in 20 to 30 year cycles.

With most discussions, for each one voting in favour of a motion, there is one against it and three who are open to persuasion. I call this the T-POTT criteria, based on the Bible’s Parable of the Talents and the saying regarding fooling people.

With this in mind, and so not tarring all with the same brush, the two main groups responsible for our way of life are the UN and the EU. Both are talking shops, often occupied by people who have been rewarded by their governments after some misdeed.

It’s the old practice of “if you want to be rid of someone, promote them”.

Productive action is required, as opposed to the present armed conflict.

With regard to the UN, I think they should change their priorities, Water for Oil, Ploughshares for Swords and Food for Money – this would mean that cost was being incurred where it would have the most beneficial effect to humanity.

The EU, our regional gravy train for some, and a UK financial drain, should be suspended until all outstanding budgets have been audited. This would most probably show it for what it is and bring about its collapse.

Money is God at the moment, but everything is relative, the numbers mean nothing, it is what the money you have will buy that matters.

Are we any better off now with inflated money numbers than we were some 50 years ago when a Mars bar was 2d now 45p, petrol 5s/gall now £5, or a bus ride 1d now £1?

Actions speak louder than words.

Surely with the shortage of food worldwide the penny will drop with the fat cats, that all countries should be encouraged to provide initially for their own needs as far as possible, and not only with regard to food. The ISLAGIATT practice (It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time) has not worked and pricing our labour out of the world market while losing skilled workers must be halted.

Our leaders, who are in a position to set their own pay scales, have used this to their own advantage over the years, hence the ever increasing gap between highest and lowest paid.

The small minority who are not in favour are easily outvoted and fall in with the pay increases.

The way money is raised and spent by the Government, including the utilities, is in need of a complete overhaul.

It would not take an Einstein to work out a better scheme than the current one.

How and when do we start the revolution?!
