1) Gun gang hold up popular pub: Three armed and masked raiders held up the Nags Head in Ainley Top on Monday evening.

The three burst in shortly before 11.30 and terrified staff and customers before managing to access to cash and fleeing.We spoke to one of the customers who feared for his life.

2) Attacker who left his ex scarred for life caged for eight years.

Andrew Banks flew into a jealous rage after discovering that his former lover had been in contact with other men following their split.

He subjected the terrified 22-year-old to a savage and sustained attack during which the woman was beaten, kicked and stabbed up to 20 times.

Banks, who worked for 19 years at a Huddersfield hair salon, was cleared of attempted murder but pleaded guilty to the alternative offence of wounding with intent to cause GBH.

3) Left winger in Town’s sights

It all looked good for Town to sign Dagenham and Redbridge wing man Dominic Green. Until he travelled up and saw Town lose to MK Dons. The deal ended up faltering and Green joined League I rivals Peterborough United

4) My street is a dumping ground

A street is being plagued by flytippers and illegal dumpers. Fridges, doors, sofas and even rotting meat has been left and resident Spencer Haynes, of Hillhouse Lane, Fartown, wants action following two years of misery.

5) Taxi boss accused of running dangerous cabs

A TAXI boss has been accused of running dangerous, uninsured cabs.

Kirklees Council’s Regulatory Panel will decide whether Gurpal Singh is fit to hold a taxi licence in the area.

But the Marsh man, who owns Streamline Taxis and Ex Service Taxis next to Huddersfield railway station, is confident of a positive outcome despite the allegations made against him.
