Peter honoured by Tate’s publication

BRIGHOUSE artist Peter Brook is going to find it hard to write in his desk diary next year – one of his paintings is in it.

The Tate gallery in London has chosen a snow scene called Sheep Coming In With The Weather to be included in its desktop diary for 2009.

A work from the Tate’s collection is used to illustrate each week of the year and Peter shares space with the likes of Francis Bacon, John Piper and John Nash.

He completed the Pennine scene set in the hills above Hebden Bridge about 20 years ago and is delighted to see it in the diary.

“A set of my pictures called The Twelve Months Of The Year was presented to the Tate by Curwen Press, when I working at that studio,” says Peter.

“It’s very nice that they’ve chosen one of them to go in the diary.

“When I did the work it was when we had decent falls of snow in the winter.”
