In Edwardian era

MUSIC lovers can step back in time tomorrow with an Edwardian evening at Southgate Methodist Church, Elland.

The church choir will sing favourites from musicals of the era, such as The Arcadians, Merrie England, The Quaker Girl and Gilbert and Sullivan’s ever popular Pirates Of Penzance.

Music hall songs are also included.

The soloists are Doris Standring (soprano) John Ramsdin (baritone) and Marilyn Hoyle (contralto).

The pianist is Andrew Jacobs with an augmented choir made up of members of Lindwell Methodist Church choir and visiting singers from local operatic and choral societies.

The conductor is Ray Wilkinson.

The concert starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £5 (including supper).

All the proceeds are for the Southgate Methodist Church redevelopment fund.
