Comment: Jobs’ gloom in the offing
Nov 7 2008 by Val Javin, Huddersfield Daily Examiner
SPARE a thought today for the workers at Greenberg Glass Emergency at Crosland Hill who have just lost their jobs – days after being told that they were safe.
Undoubtedly more employees will lose their places in the weeks to come as the country heads into possible recession.
The 50 workers at Greenburg were told only last week that despite problems with another part of the company’s business, their own work was secure.
Administrators moved in on Wednesday and bad news quickly followed.
What it adds up to is personal tragedies for many of the workforce and further evidence, were it needed, that the politicians still have much to do to help restore confidence in our battered economy otherwise many more will follow the workers of Greenberg.
