Theatre: Halifax Thespians receive Mayor’s award

HALIFAX Thespians have been given the Mayor’s Citizenship Award.

Outgoing Calderdale mayor, Conrad Winterburn, made the award for the Thespians’ long and distinguished service to the local community.

The award comes as the Thespians celebrate 60 years of Halifax Playhouse performances.

The presentation was made during a full council meeting and the award was accepted by Thespians’ president Jeanne O’Rourke and chairman Peter Thurman.

The Thespians have been performing Cider With Rosie at the Playhouse, a production that began on June 13.
