Huddersfield college lads meet up 60 years on

These lads started at college a mere 60 years ago
THEY left Huddersfield College. They travelled the world and settled down all over it.
Then a couple of weeks ago they came back.
Of the 52 lads who entered Huddersfield College in 1949, 29 made their way back for a very special occasion.
They held a reunion on the exact day of starting their secondary education at the college 60 years before.
Former pupil Ian McMillan was one of the organisers.
He said: “Quite a few still live locally but Dan Chadwick came over from Perth, Australia; Tony Brennan from Toronto, John Pearson from the south of France and the rest from various parts of England.
“The day started with a visit to the greatly modernised building in New North Road, now housing departments of Kirklees College .
“It was followed by an excellent lunch at Meltham Golf Club where we were photographed for posterity.”
Ian went digging for pictures of the two forms – 2A and 2B – that made up the September 1949 intake, photographed in 1952.
And just for comparison, he gave us a shot of the combined form in their fifth year.
The pictures are, in order from the top, 2A, 2B and the fifth form.
