But a tribunal heard that Honley Ambulance Station paramedic Angela Armitage was allegedly stealing from patients.

There were allegations that over a six-year period she was suspected of rifling through patients’ bags while in the ambulance taking them to hospitals.

The stunning allegations emerged at a Health Professions Council disciplinary hearing.

2) NEW proposals for Huddersfield’s most famous landmark could see a return to the past.

The Thandi Partnership, run by brothers Mick and Barry Thandi, wants to resurrect plans for a pub and restaurant on Castle Hill, based on the former Castle Hill Hotel.

3) THE £4m bill for the new St George’s Square came under fire.

Huddersfield people got their first look at the revamped square – complete with fountains that will be switched off in winter.

The square was officially opened complete with water fountains shooting up from out of the floor with some complaining it left a puddle on the ground.

And although some people liked parts of the project, the consensus was: “It’s not worth the money.’’

4) AN EXPERIENCED builder claims he has been left on the verge of financial ruin by Kirklees Council.

David Irving, who has run Irving Construction for the last 20 years, said the council was refusing to pay him thousands of pounds for work he carried out on a house in Dalton.

5) A CARER who was subjected to a violent, random attack as she helped a client through a busy Huddersfield park has spoken of the ordeal.

Holly Clearey, 20, had to be taken to hospital after she was assaulted by 18-year-old Kim Rushworth as she walked through Greenhead Park in daylight.
