Web Forum: Top stories

HERE are the most viewed stories on www.examiner.co.uk last week:

1) WEST Yorkshire Fire Service reported a spate of incidents on icy roads, including two involving vehicles hitting buildings.

One person was taken to hospital after a taxi slid on ice, went down an embankment and fell 25ft to 30ft before ending up on the roof of a factory in Broadlands Road, Meltham.

It took two hours for firefighters to rescue the man who has neck injuries.

2)The Examiner’s Snow webchat, inviting you to tell us what it’s like where you are and breaking news from us, was popular.

The snowblog aimed to let you get in touch with us and tell us any news we may not know – closed roads, bad snow drifts and more.

You can ask us questions and we’ll endeavour to find out if we can.

3) BUS passengers were injured in an incident on a damaged stretch of road – amid claims Kirklees Council had failed to deal with the problem.

Seven commuters needed hospital treatment after the bizarre accident on the 363 service from Huddersfield to Bradford near St George’s Square.

The bus had pulled away from a bus stop on Railway Street at about 7.15am when it drove over a loose stone slab, causing one end to drop into a 1ft-deep hole.

4) A HANDFUL of pedestrians have tried to sue Kirklees Council for falling over in snowy and icy conditions.

Under the law, councils are strongly protected from claims made by people who have hurt themselves in slippery, wintry conditions.

5) A SUSPECTED brothel in Huddersfield’s red light district has been raided and shut down.

Police swooped on the terraced house on Lower Fitzwilliam Street on Tuesday night.
