1) RAPE allegations against six Huddersfield Giants stars left the club and its fans stunned.

Coach Nathan Brown was ‘gutted’ by news that police had arrested the players at the Gosforth Marriott Hotel in Newcastle.

2) DETECTIVES stayed tight-lipped about a series of raids which left one house badly damaged and led to several arrests.

Police took taken a number of people into custody after targeting properties in Newsome, Paddock and Thornton Lodge.

But they refused to reveal details of the investigation.

3) A MASSIVE £100m leisure complex which would create 900 jobs went before planners this week.

Kirklees councillors were to decide if the HD One development at the Galpharm Stadium could go ahead.

Council officers have recommended approving the plan, which includes dozens of bars and restaurants, two nightclubs, a hotel, shops and 140 flats.

4) RECOVERING Huddersfield Giants star Paul Whatuira revealed his high-profile breakdown was sparked by memories of abuse he suffered as a child.

The 28-year-old New Zealander told how the crisis pushed him to the brink of suicide.

Whatuira, known as Fatz to his team-mates, was locked up at a secure mental health unit in Bradford in October after attacking two innocent men.

5) X Factor sensations Jedward bounced into town.

The Irish twins, real names John and Edward Grimes, were the latest in the series of X Factor stars to play town centre club Tokyo.

And the be-quiffed brothers didn’t disappoint as hundreds of fans filled the venue to see one of their typically boisterous live performances.
